Jack Bear's Great Coat

So i FINALLY got around to making JackBear a Great Coat.

Erin's mum lent me the sewing machine and i made the pattern up from looking at Jacks Dressing Gown.
The material was on sale in Spotlight which is what prompted me to spend 7 hours sitting in front of a sewing maching making it up as i went along!!!
(i havent done the button holes yet... but they will prob be done in another year... when i get around to it....!)

Anyway here is Jack in all of his glory...

Family room, not basement. We don't actually have a basement. Or an attic. Drives my mother crazy.

I'm pretty sure they're Jensen feet.

Thanks, he looks cute out of his coat too...
apparently, so i've heard from Ianto Bear!

OMG he's adorable!

So, how did you go about doing it? I've been banging my head against the wall for a while trying to figure out how to make a Jack coat for my bear to cosplay (and now I need to make one for the lion I got and named Captain Jack) :) Because that looks quite good!

GREAT JOB!!!!!! :D

[identity profile] gypsylady.livejournal.com 2008-11-09 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
I second the motion ... er ... request!

And why am I not working on Nano? Because I LOST THE PLOT!

[identity profile] knitchick1979.livejournal.com 2008-11-09 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
plot? What's that?

I think Jacqueline shoved anything that was trying to masquerade as a plot into the cryogenics drawer ages ago.

Now I'm just trying to figure out how we're gonna stop the Nostrovite and save Rhea without untying her from the dessert cart. Because that would be dangerous :)

I'd like a bit of a tutorial as well!

JackBear had a dressing gown (from Builda Bear) and i just copied the pattern, made it a bit longer and altered the coller so it would stick up more.

i made the pattern out of newspaper first before i cut any of the material,

made sure it was gonna fit him, then sewed it all together.

[identity profile] sunlitshadow.livejournal.com 2008-11-09 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
But is that an Ianto/GDL style beaded necklace I spy in that first shot?

[identity profile] absdax.livejournal.com 2008-11-09 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
kinda, i got it in San Fransisco when i was there, it has a shark tooth on it... so not really a GDL necklace!

[identity profile] bandgeek01.livejournal.com 2008-11-09 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
So I assume you made it yourself, I'm interested in how you went about it :)

It's a fantatstic job :)

Yup made it myself.

One Build a Bear Dressing Gown.

saw how it all joined together, made the parts out of newspaper first, used sticky tape to stick it together to make sure it all fited JackBear, then when i was sure all the parts would be ok, i cut the material and sewed them al together.

took 7 hours in total.

thanks
Good Luck:-)

Any chance that you and that bear will be at the HUB2 con next year? My little teddy girl would like to meet that handsome bear! :D ;)

So cute! Great job!

I wish I could make one, but BAB over here (US) doesn't have the gray trousers or the blue stripedy shirt, and I don't have any idea where to find tiny gray suspenders (braces).

Hiya,

have you tried the website?

http://www.buildabear.com

the braces i found in an Claires Accsessorise Shop in my hometown.. they were human size and i just shortened them.

might be the easiest option.

:-)

good luck
